Birds and Dishes

Sunday was a good day for hand embroidery. Had to take it easy and to distract myself from how I was feeling what better way than stitching. Used a Sublime Stitching's Fine Tip Iron On Pen in green, and ironed it to an Aunt Martha's 18"x28" Flour Sack Dish Towel. Will leave non-affiliated links below just in case you want to check the design, pen, and towels out.

Went the easy route with Bluework. However, choosing which shade of blue thread to use, proved to be a bit more time consuming. After narrowing it down to two, finally decided to go with DMC no.806. Although there are quite a few other projects that require my attention, this cutie cut in line up ahead :-).  An impromptu project that won my heart at present. Surely you know the feeling, right?
Until next time!

Snowless Winter

Yes, a snowless winter this one seems to be. January is almost gone and February is projected to start with temperatures in the 50's. My kids are eagerly waiting for some winter fun in the snow, however I don't think it will happen this year.
The pictures in this post I've blogged about previously (one of them here). Woodland creatures having a blast ice skating! From Vicki Haninger's embroidery book. Such a cute book! Now the patterns are also available individually in her Etsy shop.

Until next time! Be well!

Throwback Tuesday: Embroidery Threads

Presencia Finca Perle Cotton no.8 made in Spain
Cosmo no.25 Embroidery Thread made in Japan
DMC no.25 Embroidery Thread made in France
Sulky Petites no.12 made in Italy

I was finally able to pick up my needle and add very few stitches to my Garden Sampler, but since the progress was not very noticeable will wait to post about it.
So left you with a throwback of some pictures of bright cheery embroidery eye candy ;-) , until next time! Be well!
PS: Any hand embroidery threads made in the USA?

Tea for Two: Vintage Embroidery Freebie

This one is another one in my "Must Stitch" list. Can't wait for things to slow down around here to continue working on my embroidery! Have fun stitching these tea (or coffee if you must) drinking kitties!

An English Paper Pieced Pincushion: Diamonds

This was a fun small project I made awhile back for a sweet friend.

Not sure if I ever blogged about this project, perhaps I did. Lately my memory is a bit fuzzy.... will blame the fatigue and lack of sleep. (The background in the picture above is from a Japanese embroidery book.)

A small EPP hexagon pincushion formed by basting fabric on tiny diamonds, and then hand sewing them together. Wanted to use crushed walnut shells to fill it, but do to my concern in bringing the walnut shells home and my kids having an adverse reaction being around it (they have a life threatening allergy to nuts), I decided to go with Polyfil.
Let you go now. I wanted to go do some volunteer work this morning to support a special visit... but not feeling well, a fibromyalgia flare is looming. Perhaps I could go for just a short time, that will probably cheer me up a bit! Until next time!

Hand Embroidery: Monogram Pillowcase

We've been so busy these past few weeks. Caring for a sick family member has taken much of my time and energy that I either do not have time to stitch, or I'm too tired to pick up a needle and do some embroidery. We are hoping for a good outcome. Things seem to be improving slowly, very slowly.
The picture above is a tiny bit of progress made on an old pillowcase project that I picked up back again a couple of weeks ago. Do not remember if I previously posted the humble beginnings of this pillowcase. If I find the blog's posts then will update this one with the link(s).
May y'all have a great week ahead!
