Home Sampler Progress

Really enjoying stitching on this sampler! Home Sampler by Kathy Schmitz.

Not following the Stitch Along order of stitches. My brain likes starting and ending an area before moving to the next. Even though I could do the stabbing method while doing the Stem Stitch using an embroidery hoop, I'm finding it easier to do the sewing method even with the hoop.

The three top rectangles are done, also did the H in the center,  sorry forgot to take pictures before putting it away for the day. Being familiar with all the stitches used, and the fact that I'm using perle cotton in one color (no having to divide threads or having to choose colors) makes this pretty easy to embroider. Will post another update soon!

Count Your Blessings Update and Stash Enhancements

There was a lot going on this month, there wasn't much time for blogging.
Thankfully I'm practically done with my personal goal for volunteer work hours, and we were able to commemorate de most important event of the year!
Afterwards there were a few stressful days (homeschool year approaching its end, and personal health issues, missing loved ones, furnishing guest room, very sick kids, doubling up on keeping house as free of germs as possible, etc.).
Now that things are calming down, I was able to do a bit of stitch therapy. Added some more stitches to the "Count Your Blessings" cross stitch design... cottage done, grass is almost done, one tree is in the making. Lots of progress compared to the last time I posted about it here.

Did a bit of retail therapy as well... blaming it on those stressful few days. Better go now, I'm in the process of making a chicken salad for brunch sandwiches... yummy!
Be well! Until next time!

A Cross Stitch Goal

The Anniversary by Lila's Studio

Spring storms rolling have me all achy and sore. Got up, fixed me a  pour over coffee with vanilla almond creamer, to see if I can get my engine going. Might have to pop some meds to help me get today's chores done, of course, not with an empty stomach. Still not much stitching, however this past Sunday I did make a tiny bit of progress on my Aunt Martha's lap quilt project... didn't take any pictures though. Will try to remember for next time.

In the meantime I'll leave you with this picture above. My older daughter says that she will like to work on this design little by little and have it ready to gift to her dad and I as our present for next year's anniversary.  I've originally purchased this design and kitted it up to stitch it with that same purpose in mind, however will let my daughter work on it and see what happens. My cross stitch fever is slowly starting again (thanks to recently watching a bit of flosstube), hopefully I'll get to finish my current cross stitch WIP.
It's been neglected for too long now. Below is where I'm at.
I better get going now! May you have a wonderful week ahead!

"Give Thanks" Stitchery Update

Hoping y'all are doing well! I haven't been able to stitch lately, but here is the last progress made on "Give Thanks" few weeks ago. This design can be found in the book Stitches from the Harvest by Kathy Schmitz.  Initially posted about this project midway this post, then on this other post, and previous update before this one here.
Here is the back of the bird. Do you see those thick lines in the curve of the wing and a couple on the tail? That is where I used the alternative stem stitch, although it may be simpler to learn and stitch for some,  personally I still prefer the traditional way of doing  the stem stitch (outline of the bird, green stem and brown stem) it gives a more cleaner/tidier look on the back.
Which is your most favorite hand embroidery stitch?
Switching subject... the pollen here is giving some of us hard time. Even when we started taking our allergy meds a couple of weeks before everything started blooming. Perhaps it is time to switch allergy meds once again. Hopefully pollen is not a problem for you!
Until next time!
